Open Piece No. 7 is the latest work in my series of pieces for open instrumentation ensembles. The work was inspired by my painting “To The Teeth” which I gave to Alan & Misty Theisen in 2015. “To The Teeth” is a small abstract work. The colors smear and create a grinding intensity which gives more action to the calmer background. I tried to evoke these ideas with small solos and duos which are played sporadically during the work.

This piece is dedicated to Misty Theisen and the students of Mars Hill University.
